Tales of the Forest

Every year, the animal spirits of the world’s forests such as Lion, Snake and Hippo all gather in a neutral location to eat, drink, and tell stories. The traditional place is a campfire or a cave, but a tavern or a restaurant might work in the modern world. For the duration of the gathering, everyone agrees not to eat anyone else, so they all can enjoy each other's company. But old rivalries remain unchanged.

Tales of the Forest is a storytelling game for 3 to 10 players, with elements of freeform larp and theater improv games. While it was originally written for the 2015 Golden Cobra Challenge, I submitted it too late, and it was not included in the contest as a result.

I've recently revised and reorganized it, removing unnecessary systems and adding helpful guidelines for storytelling structure. The new version is currently in playtesting.
